Changing Furnace Filters: A How To | Blog
Changing your furnace filter on a regular basis is an easy and quick process that takes little time but has big benefits. Not only will it improve the air quality in your home, it will save you money by increasing the efficiency of your HVAC system.
Once you determine it is time to change the filter (see blog “Furnace Filters: Is It Time to Change Yours?”), the first thing to do is locate the filter in your furnace. In general, you will find it inside the blower compartment, near where the cool air enters the furnace in the cold air return duct or in the enhancement to the blower chamber.
Before changing the filter, it is always a good idea to turn the power off at the main circuit breaker. Then, simply slide out the old one and slide the new one in its place. Be certain when installing the new filter that the air flow arrow points toward the furnace or blower motor.
Purchasing a pack of several filters at a time is more convenient and cost effective than buying them individually. It also allows you to label each filter with the month that it should be installed, ensuring that you remember when the filter needs to be replaced. Contact us today and we’ll have the right filters shipped to your door, at a low price, when it’s time to replace the old.
