What’s Better Than The Energy Star Logo? The Energy Star Most Efficient Label
You’ve probably looked for the Energy Star logo when you’ve been shopping for energy-efficient appliances and home heating and cooling systems. The logo has always represented value to the consumer.
But there’s a new designation within the program that you should know about. It’s the Energy Star Most Efficient label, giving priority attention to equipment that performs above and beyond the basic standards of the Energy Star logo.
The inception of the Energy Star program years ago spurred the production of much more efficient equipment across the board. It motivated manufacturers to comply with the new regulations — if they wanted their equipment to bear the sought-after Energy Star logo. The end result of the program has been fewer greenhouse gas emissions without a sacrifice of performance, features or comfort. But now that the market has become crowded, so to speak, with so many great options that qualify for the Energy Star logo, the program has evolved to include a second designation: the most efficient label.
To qualify for this prestigious label, equipment must meet stringent guidelines. Furnaces, for example, must meet an annual fuel utilization efficiency rating of 97 percent. Further, the equipment must be certified and approved by a third-party independent organization. Once equipment receives certification, Energy Star adds it to its Most Efficient list for that year, and consumers can access the list when shopping for new systems.
You can rely on the Energy Star logo to guide your selection of appliances and heating and cooling systems. But now there’s a new label — most efficient — that you should consider when you’re looking for top-performing equipment. For more information, contact Apollo Home Heating, Cooling & Plumbing.
